Royal Bengal Tiger
The tiger is the best known symbol of Bangladesh. The sports teams are always called – the tigers. Indeed the tiger even has the very grand name of the Royal Bengal Tiger. The home of the tiger is the Sundarbans forest, the largest natural mangrove forest in the world but sadly it has been shrinking for some years. Today I was really saddened to learn that there are only 106 tigers left in the Sundarbans and that this number has been rapidly reducing. There is a great project, called the Bagh Project, (Bagh means tiger in Bengali) which is working for tiger conservation. Do take a look here, at their website and see how you can help save this magnificent animal.
