Dhaka Craft Bazar – Pohela Boishakh

We are very excited to be selling Pebble toys in Dhaka at the Dhaka Craft Bazar for Pohela Boishakh tomorrow at the Australian High Commissioner’s residence.    There will be some of the best fair trade organisations in Bangladesh with products available for sale and the event is open to all.  It is extremely generous of Wilhemina, the wife of the Australian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, to open her lovely garden for this event.

The event is organised on a regular basis by Prokritee which is a wonderful fair trade organisation in Bangladesh specialising in hand made paper.     Do check out their website.

Pohela Boishakh is Bengali New Year and a time of celebration.  In fact the actual date for the New Year is Tuesday 14th April.   This is a national holiday and all people come out onto the streets wearing red and white in a wonderful celebration.
