Covid 19 response to the artisans – Phase 1
The whole world is just like standstill due to the current pandemic situation. Every industry is suffering financial loss due to the countrywide shutdown situation.
More than 40% people in Bangladesh are living from hand to mouth so poor people are mostly in danger during Covid19 pandemic situation. They have no single job to do.
Our artisans are the core member of Pebble family as they play very vital role to make the mass production of beautiful handmade toys for our customers. Due to the shutdown situation, we are not able to distribute work order to the rural production unit. So all of the artisans have zero income at this moment which dried their regular livelihood and they face huge food crisis. To support our artisans at this moment, we planned to provide food and basis sanitize supplies to each our artisans to keep them safe. To push forward our plan, one of our wonderful retailer Shopping for a Change from USA support us financially to buy those necessary supplies. During the first phase, we have distributed food and other supplies to our 500 artisans from Dinajpur and Dhaka HQ which will help to feed our 500 artisans for almost 2 weeks.
At the same time we have received a small donation from the jakat fund of a Bangladeshi friend and allocated to our Cox’s Bazar team and distributed almost 18 packets to our artisans living in Chokoria.
So we would like to convey our special gratitude to Stacey from Shopping for a Change and our friend from Chittagong for their humanitarian support who helped us during this crisis period.
We are going to distribute next batch of food by this week in different region to keep supporting our artisans.
